Hi Guys, if you've stumbled here your probably wondering where Varley Rattery has gone?
well its still here, we have just taken the idea behind a rattery even further.
Me and my partner loved nothing more than seeing people taking our rats and having happy fun times with them enjoying every moment spent with them, knowing what we put into these rats is bringing joy to people who deserve them.
In 2009 we decided to found Berrywoods Pets, We use the word petshop lightly, as we dont like to really associate our selves with being a petshop. After spending much of 2009 reading, researching and traveling around to make sure we were 100% prepared to breed not just rats, but other animals such as hamsters, mice, gerbils, and also exotics. (Furies, we are not overly fond of scaleys yet lol i find it hard to forgive snakes)
Much of 2010 has been a success, our aim was to breed animals with the same love and care we put into our rats as Varley Rattery, being a not as average petshop we dont just let our animals go to anyone, we ask the questions other petshops should be asking, we do home checks, follow ups and provide people with channels such as this forum, to stay in touch and keep us informed about how our lines have faired.
Dont let the word petshop put you off, we are well aware of the reputation this tag carries and peoples views of such which we do agree with. We are 100% against animal farming and believe every pet deserves the best start in life, and the best owner to take care of them.
For the animals we dont breed ourselves such as Ferrets, Gunieapigs and Rabbits, we have specially selected breeders who are not only our friends but people who share our views, these people wouldnt normally allow petshops to sell their animals.

Our Barrier to convincing people has been that word "profit", i wont lie, without aiming to make a profit, the whole idea wouldnt work, but i can assure you during the course of 2010, the words "Aimming to" hold very true, and both me and my partner have had to make large cut backs to our own lives to fund this and we hope our hard work will pay off one day.
Best of all (and for the reason you've landed here) rats are still and always will be our Forte, we still have more rats living in our house than anything else and we'd still sell our very soul to maintain their wellbeing.
Its thanks to 4 very special rats, Sparky, David, Milley, and Sophie, all sadly of which are no longer with us, that we can both thank for everything that has become since that first day we bought our first 2 ratty girls, and then our first 2 ratty boys. All of which will never be forgotten. RIP my ratties.
